Who We Are

My name is Daniel, and I run RFC as a side project to help first-time visitors to China enjoy their visit. After spending a stressful night in Shanghai in 2019, I realized how crucial it is to have reliable payment methods and how many travelers face the same problem.

China is an incredible place with so much to offer – from street food vendors to high-speed trains, from local markets to cutting-edge tech. But accessing all of this requires working payment apps. That's where we come in.

This service is my way of helping fellow travelers avoid the stress we experienced and dive straight into enjoying everything China has to offer.

Why We Built Ready for China

Setting up payment apps for China is a pain. You follow tutorials, fill in forms, verify documents... but you're never really sure it actually worked until you land in China. And by then, it might be too late.

Here's what happened to us:

In 2019 we arrived in Shanghai late in the evening. Our first trip to China, excited and exhausted from the flight. Attempting our first purchase (two bottles of cold water), we discovered that the AliPay app that we'd downloaded and setup prior to travelling was not working. Standing outside the airport

No internet and no way to pay for anything – not even a taxi. Cash? Foreign cards? Nothing worked.

We eventually found a kind stranger heading who shared her taxi and mobile data while we frantically tried to fix our payment apps. That night of stress and uncertainty was the spark for this service.

That's why we built a simple solution to help you test and confirm your payment setup before you travel.

Why isn't testing free?

If it was possible to test payment apps for free, we would do it.

Unfortunately neither of AliPay nor WeChat offer a free payment testing function and payment processors charge fees for every transaction. This means that if we don't charge a small fee, we wouldn't be able to confirm that your payment app is set up correctly, and you might end up in the same situation we did.

We charge the smallest amount possible – just enough to process the transaction and confirm everything is working correctly.

All test payments receive are used to host, maintain and make sure other users can take advantage of this website.

Your Privacy & Security

Secure Payment Processing

All payments are processed by secure, certified payment processors. We never see or store your payment details.

No Personal Information

We don't collect or store any personal information beyond what's necessary to confirm your payment test worked.

Automatic Deletion

All data is automatically deleted within 3 months, or immediately upon your request. We believe in data minimization.

Your privacy matters: We're travelers too, and we treat your data how we would want our data treated. That means we don't collect it unless absolutely necessary, we don't sell it, and we don't keep it longer than needed. We built this service to help, not to profit from your data.
